There are two very important factors that affect the success of a weight loss program. Firstly, it's important to develop a support network to ensure that you create a healthful eating plan as you reach for your goal. Also having the support of a weight loss coach or team will significantly improve your success. Secondly, it is vital that you rev your body's engine and speed up your metabolism through calorie burning activities (aerobic and weight training). The conventional approach to weight problems, focusing on fad weight loss diets or weight loss drugs, may leave you with just as much weight and the additional burden of ill health. Today, an estimated sixty-five percent of all American adults are obese or overweight. Our culture obsesses about staying thin even as we grow fatter, but this isn't only about appearances. Dieting and weight loss is really not a difficult endeavor if one understands the principles of weight gain. Very simply put, if you take in more calories than you burn for the day, the extra calories get stored by your body. The result: weight gain. If you take in fewer calories than you burn, the result will be a deficit and ultimately, weight loss. Unfortunately, most people take in more calories than they burn so they gain weight and become the prey of the diet industry. If you add exercise into the "mix", you rev up your fat burning systems and allow your body the opportunity to lose weight because you've entered into a calorie deficit. When you start to burn more calories through activities or sports and take in fewer calories as well, you now supercharge the effect and the weight starts to shed much quicker. If you simply find more time to move your body and eat less and better quality foods, you will attain your weight goals much faster and more safely. Also, this method of weight loss is more long lasting than the fad diet approach. There is a psychological component to weight gain and loss, as well. As we condition our bodies to eat (maybe for pleasure, reduce boredom, anger, etc.) we become "addicted" to food as a source to release these needs and will do any and everything to appease these needs. This is why the fast food chains thrive. They play on these addictions and urges to eat. My research has come up with a "Biggest Loser" plan that really works in helping others improve their health and well being. I've seen personally seen this program work. It takes some discipline but but the results are phenomenal! Perhaps you'll be the next "biggest loser"!
