So, you might be wondering: how did basketball become this big? As stated earlier, the success of basketball can be attributed to it being a fun and enjoyable game to play, and a series of great decisions made by executives of the sport. Right now, we will look at some of those decisions to get a better understanding of what made the sport great.

First of all, basketball became this big because the players are really talented. It's no fun watching a game where the players aren't skilled or good enough. It would become very boring quickly, and would utterly fail to gather the interest of other people. Fortunately for basketball, several players have made it through that exhibited real skill and desire. The most popular example would have to be Michael Jordan, widely regarded as the best basketball player to ever play. In Jordan, people saw a man who wanted to win so badly and did it with such grace and skill. People were able to relate to Jordan, since he played every game like it was his last.

Second of all, the sport became popular because management really took control of minimizing bad and undesirable behavior from its players. One such rule they enforced was random drug testing for all the players. Drug tests were made to ensure that no player was doing something illegal, which then showed the people that the players could really be trusted and looked up to. It may have been part of something bigger, but the drug test was a fantastic way of making sure the players never cheated the game and the audience.

These are the reasons why basketball is this popular today.
