Those of us who have been playing arcade video games would remember meeting one cute little young and green frog who was found stranded in the middle of nowhere, trying to get back to his lily pad home. Yes, you are right, that game was the Free Frogger game and when first introduced it did cause a bit of a sensation. It was an interesting game in that players had to help Frogger (the name of the frog) surmount several obstructions on his way back to his pond.

Those of us who have been playing arcade video games would remember meeting one cute little young and green frog who was found stranded in the middle of nowhere, trying to get back to his lily pad home. Yes, you are right, that game was the Free Frogger game and when first introduced it did cause a bit of a sensation. It was an interesting game in that players had to help Frogger (the name of the frog) surmount several obstructions on his way back to his pond.

A modern online version of this famous game is now available at www.playfroggerfree/playfroggergame. The graphics and sound effects are much better, the action sequences are more realistic, but the central theme remains the same. In the free and downloadable version, one of the player's first tasks is to help the young frog prevent himself from being hit by oncoming vehicular traffic - just as in the original.

In the next stage, players have to help our young friend extricate himself from highly dangerous situations. As the frog tries to across a river for instance, he is prevented from doing so by alligators eagerly waiting in the water to devour him. No doubt there are 'friends' who could come in aid of the frog in the form of logs and tortoises which seem ready to transport our little green animal to relative safety. However, this help could prove illusory as these turtles could suddenly get under water in an apparent attempt to drown the frog.

Players, especially young children, will find the character Frogger pitiful and adorable and the young children's sense of justice and fair play might just prompt them to do their best to save their little friend. The game designers have very cleverly portrayed this frog as an almost human figure worthy of our help and compassion.

That, however, doesn't mean that older players will find this Free Frogger game boring. Instead, they would be equally thrilled by the many possibilities the game has to offer. The fact is the game can be played on varied levels of sophistication and players could progress from the simple to complex scenarios.

If you have young children who are just beginning to play online games then Free Frogger is one that you could introduce to your kids. One thing is sure: there are no elements of violence, sex and other undesirables. All that the game offers is wholesome entertainment, even education.
