Initially you can play with the rental club at a driving range and you can also ask your friends or fellow golfers to lend you their golf club for sometimes. This way you will be able to determine which type is right for you. Once you have played for sometime then you can think about replacing the rental golf club with your own used golf club.

As you plan to go out to purchase golf clubs you should only depend on people who know golf equipments well, you can seek help from any local golf professional for advice. Alternatively you can ask the experts at the golf shop or your friends who is good at golf and knows everything about golf equipments. Internet is also a good place to search for used golf clubs.

As a new golfer you should learn to play golf with half set of golf clubs with all the matching iron of the same model, half set could be comprised of combination of clubs. You should not include driver in the half set because driver is the hardest club to control and the new golfer might not be able to handle it yet. The half set combination would help a new player on the golf course in any situation and it will be easy to select the club. A new golfer can improve swing techniques with the assistance of well combined half set of golf club and then gradually progress towards full set golf club.

When purchasing used golf club, choose the golf club with the stainless steel club head and do not buy any inexpensive alloy head. New golfers should select heel and toe club head design, cavity backed and over sized golf club. You should choose shafts made of graphite although they are more expensive than steel shafts but they are very good for beginners, they are lighter in weight and allow the novice golfer to swing the club faster even with the enlarged club head.

A club repairman can easily change it for you at an inexpensive price but you should check that they replace the same design and same size of grip.

Finally, if you are just starting out with golf, chances are your swing is more likely to let you down rather than the golf clubs itself. But it is still important to try out the golf clubs before buying them in order to find a golf club that suits your swing, body and game. Most importantly, right golf club will make you feel confident when you use it.
