Brooklyn New York dentist Laurence A. Langer DDS reports on an interesting trend: Brooklyn smile makeovers. Apparently smile makeovers are not confined to only upscale Manhattan residents. Brooklyn residents are now making this a mainstream Brooklyn dental procedure.

Dr. Langer recently shared with us an "insider's view" of how and why smile makeovers are becoming an integral part of a person's' increased self-esteem and a stimulus to self confidence in a challenging world. Of course, general cosmetic surgery is increasingly common, but how many people actually realize that a fairly simple Brooklyn smile makeover can make all of the difference?

"Smile makeovers not only look and feel great, but it will also correct any occlusal discrepancies (the way our teeth meet)," says Dr. Langer. "This will prevent further wear or breakage of our natural teeth and keep our teeth in a more harmonious and healthy situation."

Implants are used in Brooklyn dentistry as an important step in the smile makeover process.

Dr. Langer incorporated two implants due to a situation involving fractured and hopeless teeth. Hopeless teeth are those that can not be restored due to severe bone loss, severe decay, large infections, fractures, or poor misalignment.

In addition, a porcelain veneer and a porcelain crown were placed on the adjacent teeth to match everything up into an even, aesthetically pleasing appearance. Dr. Langer uses only gold for the abutements to enhance for strength, durability and aesthetics. They observe the health of the tissue, and fabricate only custom abutements, which are abutments are the "post and core" that is screwed into the implant. The crown is than cemented over it. This allows for excellent tissue maintenance, aesthetics and overall fit.

According to Dr. Langer, the most difficult part of any implant case is tissue maintenance and aesthetics. It's important to get the tissue to "fit" around crowns without any spaces, while referring to an excellent periodontist to place all implants. This Brooklyn dentist works to get consistent, high quality results, while using the best labs available to achieve the excellent aesthetics that he demands for his patients.
