Healthy Fats are needed by your body for many of its functions and your body thrives on a supply of saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats. Right now Americans are facing an overabundance of Omega 6 Fatty Acids and a severe shortage of Omega 3 Fatty Acids from consuming too much Omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. A healthy Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio would be in the 2 to 1 or 1 to 1 range. Most people are probably at a 20 to 1 or 50 to 1 ratio in favor of Omega-6. This imbalance can lead to health problems like liver damage, heart disease, sterility, violent behavior, weight problems, asthma, and blood clots. The best way to fix this deficiency is to increase your Omega-3's and lower your intake of Omega-6. Another Problem is With Adequate Saturated Fat Intake Your body relies on these Healthy Fats more than we have been taught or have been lead to believe. Your lungs need saturated fats in order to supply oxygen to the rest of your body Omega 3's rely on saturated fats to help your body use them properly. Your kidneys function better with a saturated fat called myristic acid. Your body depends on various hormones that take care of important and vital processes within your body. Lauric Acid is Abundant in Coconut's Fatty Acids Coconuts contain a very special fatty acid that is also found in mother's milk. This fatty acid is called lauric acid and it contains very special health benefits. There is quite an abundance of this special fatty acid found in coconuts. Because Lauric Acid gets turned into Monolaurin which has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, this helps new born babies to withstand infections and develop a strong immune system. Lauric acid enhances the ability of your pancreas to secrete insulin and lauric acid also activates your thyroid which helps your metabolism.
