There are many do's and don'ts when it comes to eating right and weight loss. It can be down right tiresome.

If you've been looking around for a good weight loss plan or even just for tips, you've probably been told you shouldn't eat this and your shouldn't eat that.

Plenty of diets tell you that exercising harder and eating alot less is the key to weight loss. But what this tends to do is encourage your body to crave food due to eating so much less.

Studies conducted recently have found that low fat or low in calorie diets only have a certain effect on the body. In fact, dieting this way alone may not prevent heart disease and in fact our bodies utilize and absorb more nutrients from foods that we actually like.

Replacing all the chicken in your diet with vegetables (although good for you) may not be doing you as much good as you think.

The reason for this is because our brain, upon recognizing familiar smells that we like, will ask our stomachs to produce more digestive juices. This helps our food become better metabolized and digested proteins will be better used by our bodies.

However, before you start eating everything that smells nice in sight:

1) Chips, chocolate and all manner of junk food, although smelling good, need to be avoided. You need to eat food that has nutritional value in it. Vegetables and fruits are a good choice and you can prepare them in any way you like to eat it.

2) Ask yourself, why are you eating in the first place? Is it because there are people around and you are mingling? Is it stress or emotionally induced? Try and control the amount of food you are eating based on the situation.

3) Chew your food slowly. That's the best way to enjoy each and evey bite and gives your brain the time to register that you are getting full. There's a delay between you eating and your brain registering it as filling you up.

Try these tips and you should gain more control of what you eat and how you eat it.
