Now I want to get into some of my involvement with cordyceps mushroom extract, what I've noticed from it, and then we'll talk about when to NOT take cordyceps and what to search for in products and what to steer clear of in products. Some of the advantages that I have spotted from cordyceps here recently is just more even sleep and actually , more pleasant sleep patterns. This is something I have been trying to work on a lot during the past two years, because I was always a person who would stay up late, wake up late, and for my way of life and for having relations and handling people, it truly was not that ideal, and that was really beginning to cause a drain on my body. Because it is obvious that the earth and the universe has a circadian rhythm--the sun comes up at a certain time, it is going down at a certain time--and I suspect the more that we can live in line with that, the more sorted we'll be.

So if we are, you know, retiring to bed at 3 or 4 am and waking up at midday each day, it is not really that pleasant and it isn't really working our chi flow the best that it might be. For me, this was always something I would have liked to overcome, and I always needed to start waking up earlier and go to bed a lot earlier, but I'd simply have to coerce myself to do it and it could never work. After about two to three weeks of taking pretty consistent measures of cordyceps, requiring about a tablespoon of extract per day, about 5 or so times each week, I spotted that I just mechanically started waking up between seven and nine am. I realized that i just started naturally desiring to head off to bed earlier.

Now, a month or two later on even though I've stopped taking cordyceps--because sometimes I just take breaks from certain herbs and get on other herbs and just try experimenting with different things and see what better results I could get, those results--those effects and those benefits that I got are still with me. I am still having a far more natural sleep pattern, where I naturally wake up between 7 and 9 am, when my spleen chi is the most powerful and when my body is prepared to get up and get started.

I naturally find myself heading off to bed in more natural hours, anytime between 10 to midnight or often even a bit later , dependent on what I am doing, but still waking up earlier. This is because of the fact that cordyceps is an adaptogen, and it is going in and modulating and balancing the various functions in our body, meaning our circadian rhythms, our immune systems, our digestive functions--all the different systems in our body, it's simply balancing and restoring homeostasis to. On top of that, it is toning up the yin and the yang jing, which, as it relates to sleep, the yin jing is truly the energy that helps us to revive and build up energy, and the yang jing is really the use of that energy.

The yang would be that energy that helps us to just wake up early and have our eyes bright and have ourselves with that sense of just wanting to leap out of bed, and usually when folks are actually wanting in yang, they can just sleep all day, never need to get up, never really need to do anything. For me, I really dropped in that class, and through taking cordyceps, I definitely spotted that entire process being improved.
