With all the Summer warm weather upon us, thoughts turn to spending more time outdoors. This might mean relaxing in the garden after a busy day at work or maybe having a BBQ and eating al fresco. Or you could have bigger plans, like a family get together or a children's birthday party planned. Whatever your plans might be, keeping the youngsters amused and active might be something on your mind. One way to do this is to acquire an inflatable bounce house or bouncer.

Bounce houses are basically air filled structures that children (and adults) can have fun on. They are an opportunity for kids to use all that endless energy they seem to have. They seem to have great pleasure and their parents get pleasure from watching them have fun too.

The standard bounce house is just for jumping. These types often look like a castle hence the name jumping castle or bouncy castle. They have a large central jumping area that's supported by 4 inflated columns that may have imitation crenellations, spires or pointy rooves. These columns give the inflatable the design of a castle. Additional additions might include an entrance that appears like a castle door or portcullis. A few even have a splash or paddle pool in the front of the bouncer that is supposed to be a moat.

I'm undecided why the notion of a castle is so fashionable in inflatable bouncers but I suppose the concept is to spark the imagination of the kids that see it. Children seem to be as fascinated by knights, princesses, suits of armor, swords and castles as they are about dinosaurs so I suppose this is the idea behind it.

With this said, the manufacturers of bounce houses have branched out to include plenty of other designs in bouncers and things to do on them.

These are sometimes called inflatable activity centers or adventure parks. They don't look like castles and their design is usually governed by the type of things that come with them. As an example, some bouncers have slides and climbing walls on them. Others could have tunnels to crawl through. Plus others can be a mix of paddle pool and jumping area (or a wet and dry inflatable).

You'll be able to rent these types of products or buy them. In several cases, renting one unit for a day might cost the same as buying one for yourself. Rented ones can be larger and you do not have to worry about them getting a puncture. Purchased types are still a good size depending on the type you go for and to be honest, they're not that tough to set up and seem extremely resilient.
