As we all know, the web can supply you with more information in a click than you can ever possibly need. They will all tell you that they are free, but I assure you, none of them are.

What you will get is rerouted to a site that will ask you to pump in the name of the person that you are trying to check out. Once you do that and hit enter, you will quickly get a list of matches and be told that they have some dirt, but to get it you are going to have to pay for it. So much for free.

The fee's that they charge are actually usually pretty fair. It will normally cost you anywhere from $20-$50 depending upon what kind of records you want to dig up. You will usually also have the option to purchase more reports at a discounted rate. If you plan on playing Inspector Gadget again in the very near future, you way want to take advantage of the sale. However, in today's economy, every penny we have is precious. Is there any way we can do this without taking some money out of our wallet?

Yes and no. You can start the process online for free, but you can't finish it. Most states and counties have their own sites that you can go to and request free records information. You can download the right forms and then send them off and wait to get it back in the mail. Going this route can take, well, as long as it takes. We all know how quickly the government works. Sooner or later it will show up in your mailbox.

The choice is yours. You can pay a few bucks and have the information in your email in as quick as a couple of minutes or as long as a day maximum, or you can download all kinds of files, fill them out, mail them in and then wait patiently for the records to be returned to you. The choice is yours, it just depends how patient you are and how much time you have on your hands.
