A mother's instinct is to meet the needs of her baby before anything else. Once those needs are met, get selfish and take care of yourself!

To begin, take a shower so that you start the day out fresh and clean. It does not have to be long, but at least try to get it done before noon. If you take a shorter shower, instead of lingering in the steamy relaxing water, you will have more time to get yourself dressed for the day.

Makeup: Makeup application can take 20 minutes or it can take two minutes. For now, if you can really only afford to take those two minutes, choose your makeup wisely. Your best bet is a concealer to hide any dark under-eye circles (sleep deprivation), blush to highlight your cheekbones and brighten your face, black (or very dark) mascara to open your eyes (curl your eyelashes prior to application for greater effect), and gloss for your lips.

Hair: With only about 10 minutes in the morning to get yourself together, it is a good idea to stick to basic hairstyles. It is easy to tire of a regular ponytail, so try different types of ponytails. Use clips and try low, side-ponytails with colorful clips; or taking a strand of hair and wrapping it around the base of your pony tail to conceal the elastic band. If you have shorter hair, applying a product such as a volumizer and running your hair between your fingers while you quickly blow dry will give you a very jazzy hair style. To add texture, simply add pomade to the tips.

Clothes: With a new baby comes a new figure, so you want to make sure to choose clothing that compliment. If an article of clothing looks like it will split open, stay away from it. Just tell yourself that for right now, it is too small. After two months of eating right and getting some exercise you will be able to get into it. Besides, if you wear what compliments your figure you feel more beautiful anyway. As-a-matter-of-fact, you may want to consider wearing your maternity clothes so your body feels good while it heals.

Shirts can be tricky, especially if you're nursing. Opt for tunic-length shirts that will feel flowing instead of hugging your new curves. If you're going for a button-down shirt, make sure there are no gaps between the buttons from the shirt pulling tight and being too small. Layering with a fitted camisole under your shirt can also help keep you covered.

Buy at least one pair of pants in your current size. For the pants you own that are too small around the waist, consider using an elastic band through the buttonhole and wear a shirt long enough to cover it. You can also purchase a "sleeve" to wear under a shirt to cover your middle and the top of your un-buttoned pants. Don't be afraid to try drawstring pants as another fashion option for now and later after the baby fat is gone.

A pretty dress can always lift your mood. Again, look for one that flatters your figure and isn't tight.

Accessories: Don't forget about accessories! You can never go wrong with the right jewelry and shoes. Complete your look with at least one item of your favorite jewelry every day. If you're leaving the house, heels will lengthen your legs and give you a slimmer look.

A happy mommy is one who feels good about how they look. Take the time each day to take care of you. You don't have to look as tired as you may feel when you show your new addition off. BesidesDaddy will enjoy it too!
