I never knew skip hire was going to play an integral part in my life this year, but it did. It all began 3 months before the annual vegetable competition. My favourite time of the year! I had terrible luck last year. The very night before the comp, a fox came and nibbled on my radishes which had the potential to win it! The fox left the raid on the nearby road after realising he didn't like the taste of my prized radishes allowing passing cars to squash them into slush. This was the day before the big comp! I sought out the help of a skip hire company. I needed a skip hire to help me clean out the old soil, and lay fresh for mouth watering vegetables to grow. I wanted to win for sure this year, so I planned to do all the work myself, but needed to the skip hire companies help in disposing my waste! I got the skip hire for 2 weeks. However as my driveway was a beautiful garden of petunias, I had to get the skip hire company to lace the skip on the highway. For this I required a permit, I was told. It didn't matter though, I was going to win, it would be worth it. A week later my skip was half full, I had been working day and night to get this under way. I figured I may need another skip hire. I was so anxious to get the work finished; I forgot one night to place lighting and cones around my skip, to make road users aware of the fact there was a huge skip in the middle of the road. It was around 1:53AM when I was awoken by a massive bang. My first reaction was a plane had crashed into my house, it actually turned out to be an expensive audi slam dunking into my skip outside my house! I rushed downstairs and phoned the police, as I got outside, i discovered the driver was still alive. The audi had saved the day with the high level of gadgets and rock solid shell, doing what they were designed to do. The emergancy services arrived and took the driver away. The next day I contacted the skip company, they said it was my responsibility to make sure the skip was safe for road users. They had provided me with the skip, the permit and the equipment to make sure it could be seen at night. I didn't win the grand prize, and had to pay for the repair of the \Audi, and pay compensation for his whiplash. Told you I wasn't lucky!
