If you're thinking about remodeling your home, you might be interested in knowing about the way that decorating and feng shui can be combined. If you want, you can even introduce some of the principles of feng shui into your home and reap the benefits.

It may surprise you to know that decorating and feng shui are a true blend of not just art, but some science as well. Why do we say this? For one thing, there are no hard and fast rules about applying feng shui to your life. There are many so-called experts who can give you advice, but in the end, it will be up to you to make the decision of what you like and what you dont.

This is the aspect of decorating and feng shui that can be considered art; everything is subjective, and there are no real right or wrong answers. What appeals to one person may not appeal to another.

Additionally, there are many pieces of advice when it comes to de-cluttering your house and using color to create mood, tension, and energy, but again, there are no hard and fast rules here either. One person may breeze through your home and declare certain items and knickknacks as being cluttered and unnecessary, but to you, these are prized possessions.

When you are using feng shui in conjunction with decorating, you should show balance and exercise caution. What you might see as clutter-free, someone else might see as sterile and cold, or vice versa. There are no rules and no right or wrong answers. You just need to interpret the feng shui principles for yourself and decide what is appealing to you and what looks good in your home.

Decorating and feng shui is also part science, however. There are some real, biological facts behind its teachings regarding clutter, color, entryways, and so on. Scientists have researched how tense and anxious people feel when surrounded by a cluttered environment, and how color can and does affect ones mood. Bold and bright colors are a great pick me up, while warmer colors make you feel soothed and relaxed. Softer colors can also be a calming influence, while those bold colors make you feel energized and in control.

Likewise, the entrance to your home and to each room in the house can do a lot to set the mood of the space. Your entry way is how you make your first impression. Like a first meeting with a person, the first impression of your entry way can set the tone of how you interact with the room.

When you are apply decorating and feng shui principles, you need to consider that first impression because it is very important. You can stand in the entryway to each room and see how you feel. Does the room in question feel inviting or does it feel off-putting.

If you apply these simple principles of decorating and feng shui, you can start experiencing the art and he science of this ancient practice, with highly beneficial results.
