One lane could be Comcast, MSN, AOL, Qwest; these are all lanes on the highway. Imagine the cars as millions of people traveling down the highway. Now guess what the exits are? Websites or weblogs! And guess what your desired goal should be? To get as many cars to YOUR exit as possible.

I'm going to show you how to increase online traffic free. So what I mean is I'm going to show you how to make your exit more visible so more cars will see it and decide to choose your exit 1st. If you have no understanding of "keyword optimization!" This can cost you big bucks.

I don't know everything about increasing online traffic; but what I do know are simple techniques to draw free visitors to your website or web log. I'll give you the basics to keep this timely and simple. If you like in-depth information I'll leave my contact information before ending the article.

Starting from the bottom with "low traffic" or noncompetitive keywords is your goal. You would want to use a keyword which describes your "primary" keyword. Let's use: "shiny little red Apple". This describes your primary keyword apples.

Now there are search engine tools online available to verify if people are searching for your particular product. These tools show you exactly what people are typing into the Google, Yahoo or Alexa search engines when looking for your particular product. So to increase online traffic in the search engines you will need: freekeywords.wordtracker.com

For other free tools simply type into any search engine the words "free keyword tools" with these keyword tools just type in the name of any product you're trying to promote, and see what people are typing in the search engines to locate your product. Then locate the keyword phrases that best describe your product starting from the bottom.

These 3 word or longer keywords are called (longtail keywords). For more effective use of keywords visit: goodkeywords.com. To increase online traffic starting from the bottom will give you the competitive edge. Goodkeywords.com has free tools and powerful keyword information.

Finding the right keywords will be fairly easy using these above websites. Now let's change our ugly affiliate website link to a website link that matches our primary keyword. In our above example (apples) was our primary keyword. And "shiny little red Apple" is our long tail keyword.

Now affiliate links do not look pretty. These links are designed to credit you for your sale of a particular product. ClickBank.com affiliate links look like this: http://candyc77.apples.hop.clickbank.net my tracking affiliate code is candyc77. I get paid through this code.

Let's make this link more presentable to search engines and viewers. A great website at http://www.shortURL.com will allow you to make your affiliate link look like this: Apples.2fortune.com instead of the ugly long coded original affiliate link. Also giving you a .com highly ranked link for only $1.88 a year.

Now with your effective list of longtail keywords and your new pleasant looking affiliate link. Let's increased online traffic with a Web log, better known as a blog. Go to www.blogger.com or WordPress.com and get your FREE weblog.

I don't have time to explain the awesome advantages of using a Web blog instead of a website promote your affiliate products. The RSS feed advantages are tremendous and you can learn more at whatever Web blog site you choose to join above.

RSS feed is already installed in your free Web log which will help you rank higher in the search engines for visitors to your site. Now plug in your affiliate link along with a brief description of your product using your primary, secondary and longtail keywords.

Remember in the earlier example, your primary keyword was apples which is to competitive for now. You might use (candy apples) as your secondary keyword but this is still to competitive for the beginner. To increase online traffic you should begin with "longtail keywords".

Longtail keywords are keyword phrases with 3 or more words used to describe a search. Like "small green apples." Your audience is smaller but your competitive ability is far greater. Free traffic is your goal.

Use all of these keywords in the paragraphs of your web blog to describe your affiliate product. Also include your more pleasing affiliate link you made from http://www.shorturl.com. The example Link: Apples.2fortune.com using a highly ranked .com address can certainly increase your online traffic.

Now don't forget, you have a little homework by visiting the websites I presented above. The knowledge you can obtain from these websites will help you achieve even greater traffic results. Remember, you have a entire blogging community to present your product to. Find your market and see what others are talking about! There you have it, this is a general guideline, due to time constraints. But if you follow these simple procedures you will see a increase in online traffic. Again using good Long tail keywords and a Web blog will give you an advantage.
