It is a good idea to choose a few organizers to interview. Some of the more important questions to ask would be, what are their policies, do they give free estimates after they visit your house, and lastly are the a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers. After going through the interviews that is the time to compare the different services and prices of each organizer and choose the one that best fits your needs.

After you hire someone for the tasks at hand, make an appointment for them to come to your house. They will give you an estimate and probably jot down a list of tasks that you want to be completed. Your organizer let you know what to expect during this process. If, by chance, you can not get everything done now, then you can hire her again another time.

As the home owner you will be helping your professional organizer with each task needing to be done. After each space is organized it will be up to you and other family members to put the things back where they go. Organizing your home will make you have a whole new attitude about living in what seems like a new home. It is amazing what a little decluttering can do for you emotionally.

One of the misconceptions of professional organizers is that they will do house cleaning. They do not clean the house instead they find ways of placing your items together in such a way that they are convenient to access. This can be done in any room in the home, from the home office to your kitchen space. Organizers will also come visit the house on a once a month basis for maintenance purposes.

Your professional organizer will teach you how to organize your things so that you will be able to do this yourself in other rooms of your house. Realize though that it will not happen over night. This will take time and you must not let it overwhelm you. Take baby steps and do a little bit at a time and eventually your room will be done. Just take a deep breath and start with a good attitude because you can do this.

Now is the perfect time to teach your children how to pick up after themselves. It is easy teaching how to hang up clothing or put toys in the toy chest. This will make them have pride in their personal spaces and themselves, and they will continue this process everyday. As they get older teach chores that are age appropriate, and they will gain more responsibility.

We have barely scratched the surface in the world of professional organizers. But with the knowledge you have you can start that search for the best person to hire for the job. When you find someone that you feel comfortable with then start asking the pertinent questions. Decide what your budget is and choose the rooms that bother you the most and make those your first priority.
