The typical man needs to understand that understanding most women starts with knowing the answer to the question \"What are men really looking for in a woman?\"

When asked this question, most men try to answer with some clichA, but some actually answer very thoughtfully. When it comes down to it, however, most men want the same things, even though the package may change a little to fit individual tastes.

The biggest thing that a man looks for in a woman is a level of chemistry. What determines chemistry is a big mystery, to say the least, but the typical man claims to \"know\" when they click with someone. Of course, the never ending search to find chemistry with a woman in the way that they desire is the driving force behind why many men do not get into long term relationships.

Internet dating sites like eHarmony and Match.com use the search for chemistry as a selling point for their services. Through their screening process, these types of sites believe they can make this basic connection for people. Although they have had some successes, more often questionnaires cannot really determine what two people will fit together, and very often, these sites end up pairing two very opposite people.

So, what other factors are involved in this search for the perfect companion? Self assurance is a big one, but not to the point of arrogance. While confidence is commendable, conceit is going too far. Beauty and brains are nice, but not if a woman uses them to try and get men to melt at their feet. In fact, this type of behavior will have the majority of men running in the opposite direction.

Men like confidence in a woman, but they're also looking for a woman who can think as well as she carries herself. Too many men are lulled into believing that a beautiful woman can make up for mental deficiency with her looks, as these women often can be the worst type to commit to a relationship with. A woman with a good head on her shoulders and ambitions can make a relationship thrive in all areas.

It should not be forgotten that what men really want is a good lover. A tiger in bed is highly desirable, so men are looking for knowledgeable women these days, especially those who are more mature and experienced. This means a lot of guys are dating older women, so being drop dead gorgeous may not be the priority it once was for these men.

There are many more things that can be discussed when attempting to answer this burning question, but the most important things men look for are independence, confidence, and as clichA as it sounds, a good sense of humor. A strong, confident woman will always make a good impression, and that is what men are really looking for in a date and in a relationship.
