These dogs are very good-natured dogs and are very loyal to their owners. They very rarely ever back down and are very self-assured and watchful dogs. Their training should begin when they are at a young age, as these dogs are very trainable. Hip and elbow dysplasia is a concern among Black German Shepherds and a careful watch for this is important for the dog owner.

If you wanted to buy a Black German Shepherd it would cost you between eight hundred and one thousand dollars. The darker the color of the coat and the more luxurious it is, the more expensive the dog will be. Black German Shepherd puppies are very plentiful and should not be hard to locate. They are the most popular dog in Australia. Their litters can reach up to ten pups.

Maintaining a healthy Black German Shepherd is fairly easy. He will need plenty of exercise every day, so walking twice a day or having a large fenced in area is recommended. There is more chance of health problems if a Black German Shepherd is confined to a small area. Hip and elbow dysplasia is a common concern with these dogs, but with proper preventative measures the problem can be easily dealt with.

His grooming schedule will depend on the length of his coat and how often he plays in the mud. But normally, bathing should be monthly and brushing should be weekly.

The Black German Shepherd is a very good disability dog. They are known to most as the seeing eye dogs. They work with customs officials and correctional officers. They are great obedience dogs and work instinctively well with the police. They make great companion dogs and so naturally they make awesome family pets. They are very loyal dogs and will be protective to their families. This characteristic makes them great watchdogs as well.

They can be trained to do almost anything. Their German roots, which are steeped rich in history, have set them back in history as working dogs. Herding animals for the farmers and rounding up strays from the herd. They have instinctively held onto this concept through the years.

The Black German Shepherd is capable of all of these working environments and still maintains a steady and soft disposition. The Black German Shepherd is truly man's best friend.
