In comparison to other brands of dog food, how healthy is Nutro? In all honesty, Nutro is a lower grade product that uses fillers instead of real meat. Many brands these days use human grade ingredients, which Nutro does not. There is no way it can be described as human grade dog food. Of course, this kind of food is more costly than brands like Nutro, but there are numerous healthier dog foods available to choose from. I recommend Natural Balance dog foods as the best choice, and its available at a very reasonable price. Brands like Natural Balance and Blue Buffalo dog foods are not in the came category as Nutro, as they contain higher quality ingredients. Nutro is most similar to the Waltham dog food brands which include Cesar, Chappie, Pedigree, etc. Brands like Waltham and Nutro aim to provide healthy nutrition in a convenient way. Nutro is cheap to buy, but you may pay more in the long run than you would giving your dog Natural Balance dog food. Bones and Raw Food is available in frozen form, and it is quite evident that BARF is the best food that you can feed your dog. However, this diet is a bit high-maintenance and might not be for ever dog owner, so your next best choice is to select a dry food like Natural Balance premium dog food, which contains only fresh ingredients that are of good enough quality to be consumed by humans. This food is rich in nutrients; it is made with protein from top quality meat sources and includes none of the following: by-products, corn, wheat, gluten, soy, artificial flavors, artificial colors, sugars, or artificial preservatives. Because it uses wheat and its ingredients are not human quality meat, Nutro is not able to compete with this. Wysong pet food leaves Nutro dead in the water, using even free-range pheasant in its recipes, and with a staggering 99.9% meat content in its dried meat products. The $14 price tag, however, can be off putting. Dog food manufactures have to seriously consider the recent food recalls. Fortunately for Nutro, none of their dry pet food products were recalled. On the other hand, many of the Nutro canned dog food products were recalled, as were their products for cats.
