If you have just brought home a Pug puppy and are wondering about Pug care then you have probably thought about how to deal with Pug nutrition. What is the best food to feed your dog and what vitamins and supplements should you feed your dog? Your vet may have recommended a pet food brand or you may have already bought a can of dog food that will take care of Pug nutrition.

Commercialized pet food actually contains plenty of the things that are very bad for your pet. The pesticides and chemicals that can be found in commercial pet food can cause cancer, kidney failure and other nasty diseases that your poor pooch could easily avoid.

When you look up Pug dog food recipes you will notice that they very much resemble a balanced meal that you might make for yourself. With one difference, Pug nutrition contains more meat than a balanced human diet. This is absolutely how it should be. Even though your Pug doesn't look like one, it is really a carnivore that likes his meat. Excellent Pug care means giving your dog a diet that is rich in meat.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to making your own dog food. Some people will advocate feeding your dog raw meat while others will say that you should cook meat. Do your research and look at the pros and cons of both ways before deciding. It all depends on you and your dog, what works for some owners and their dogs may not work for you and your Pug. Pug nutrition can be tailored to suit your lifestyle and your dog's individual needs.

Natural food does not mean that anything you would eat is okay for your dog. There are certain foods that are not good for your dog and in some cases can be lethal when taken in large amounts.

Never give your dog onions in any form and garlic should always be cooked and fed in very small quantities and not on a daily basis. There are other foods that are not good for dog so check with your vet what these are before getting creative in the kitchen.

One of the Pug dog food recipes that is easy to make is a doggy hamburger. Boil five cups of brown rice with ten cups of water. When the rice has come to a boil add two pounds of low fat hamburger with five tablespoons of mint that has been finely chopped up.

Cook the rice separately and before each meal and add to the casserole. This is a basic recipe and you will soon be inventing your own with different meats and vegetables.
