Before you get a turtle it is important to do all the research on raising a turtle as a pet. You'll first want to decide what kind of turtle you want as each has different food and housing needs. Many turtles live for decades and not all pet owners want to put in that much time with a pet. Consider all of these things before you buy your turtle so that you get one that suits your needs and conditions.

The more common pet turtle kind is the small terrestrial and fresh water turtle and is very popular with children. Turtles are also very economical pets because of their low maintenance and lifestyle. You don't need to give them the care you give dogs or cats. These type of turtles are popular with little children. These turtles are great for people without a lot of time.

Turtles serve as great and exotic pets but it's important that pet owners take really good care of them. You need to be attentive to your turtle's needs, such as tanks, special lighting, good filtration and lots and lots of cleaning.
