With the city I grew up in, YMCA camps are actually quite popular. The thing is, parents in town didn't have a lot of cash to get their kids away to pricey forests summer camps, but on top of that they wished to give their children a chance to get in shape and take advantage of the summer season the way all kids like to - by running around, swimming, playing sports, and basically goofing off. YMCA camp offered us the opportunity to do that. Also see these Great Supply of Church Bulletins that can be helpful for the camp. The very first year I ever attended YMCA summer camp, I was getting into fifth grade as well as fearing the experience. I didn't desire to be away from home everyday. I truly preferred to read, and wanted to take my summer curled up with a book. However, my parents would like me to get in condition, hence they sent me off to the day summer camp. YMCA camps wasn't much of a habit in my family. My older sister had really liked going to girl scout camp herself, and also my big brother had been a boy scout. The reason I went to YMCA camp was given that it was near and convenient, and didn't need me to sleep away. I'd spend the day there and then my parents would pick me up. Although I would have preferred a more educational summer camp in that age, I found myself enjoying YMCA summer camps pretty much. I took to the lake like a duck, and was instantly made a part of the swimming group. A lot of the other kids had more experience than I did, but it did not take me that long to catch up with them, and even surpass their skill level. In the end of the summer, I was one of the best swimmers in the whole area. After that, I joined YMCA camps every single year. I really liked to swim, and they allow me to enjoy time there in the pool. Also, I got to do some arts and crafts. I even got to read for an hour here and there, which has always been definitely my favorite pastime. The camp kept me from my mom's hair, and offered me the chance to exercise - something that I really would not did if had not been in that camp. Now that I am nurturing my children, I think I will send them back to the same summer camp I used to visit.
