Up until now the temperatures have been rather normal but surely from now on they are going to skyrocket as summer is just around the corner. All our winter clothes will have to be stored away and out summer outfits should replace them. This packing, folding and storing will definitely take a lot of your time so it would be better to reserve a whole weekend for this. So, here are some tips that you might find helpful.

As you can imagine, all your sweaters, bulky clothes and other types of big items will have to be packed and stored away. There are some special clothes that we cannot simple fold and put in plastic bags, they need some special attention. So, invest in some hangers and plastic covers and put these clothes at the back of your closet. You should make sure that the next time you go shopping you purchase some plastic bags, containers and boxes that will come in very hand when you want to put away your winter clothes. There are many places where these boxes can be put such as a spare bedroom, a garden studio or maybe in your garage.

Your boots and your winter shoes will also have to be put away somewhere in order to make way for the strappy sandals and your wedges. The best solution in order to avoid any bad smells is to place an open can of baking soda in the box. This way you can be sure that you will not face some serious odor issues when you open the box.

The safest way to kill part of the germs and the smells that have remained afterward is to put your shoes in a plastic bag and toss them in the freezer for the night. This trick usually works and your shoes will remain fresh until winter comes again.

When it seems that the battle for more space in your closet is lost, don't give up. All you need is a little bit of imagination. Summer clothe are usually light and don't occupy so much space. This is why all you will need are a couple of small shelves to place them on. For your Maxi dresses and skirts you can simply choose to invest in some special hangers that will save a lot of space and also a lot of headaches.
