Have you ever realized that it is much more difficult to apply mascara and other eye makeup products in the wintertime? When it starts to get chilly out, you will probably notice that your mascara and eyeliners will be a little stiffer and more difficult to apply. Your eyeliner might even be less supple than it usually is, and might have less color impact. This happens because the lower temperatures can cause problems when it comes to makeup application - and especially eye makeup application. I have a few key makeup tips that will help make your eye makeup routine a little easier this winter season. The key to a smooth eyeliner application is to have it be the right temperature. It is so frustrating when eyeliner is too cold and hard and doesn't seem to want to go on. The exciting thing is that each of us has a secret weapon; our bodies. Your body heat has just the right effect on your eye makeup to get it to the perfect temperature without over warming it. If you just stick your eyeliner right next to your hip letting the elastic on your pants hold it to your body, after a few minutes, it will be ready. I always do my hair while my eye liner warms up. The same idea works for your mascara. When mascara gets too cold, it gets thicker and clumpier and while thick might be the look you want on your lashes, clumpy definitely is not. To fix the problem, simply use the same trick you used with the eyeliner. Your body temperature will warm up the mascara to perfection in no time. It might take a little bit longer than the eyeliner, but it will be worth it when it goes on your lashes smooth and clean. Curling your eyelashes is also an important step in many womens' eye makeup routines. In the winter, your eyelash curler is often ice cold. I would recommend warming it up as well during the colder months. Just like your hair curling iron, your eyelash curler will work much better when it's slightly heated. I sometimes use my body heat to warm my eyelash curler. Sometimes, when I don't have much time, I will use my blow dryer to warm the curler. Be sure to just use it on low heat for only a few seconds and then test the curler to make sure it is not too hot so it doesn't damage your sensitive eye area. So this winter, when the cold sets in, try out these makeup tips to help you make the most of your makeup and look your best.
