So you want to apply some feng shui in your life, but dont know where to start? Are you hesitant about paying out money for so-called experts who promise to come into your home and give you a reading to advise you? Are you wondering if its all just a bunch of bunk?

Don't worry because we have some great pointers and tips for all feng shui beginners to think about before they go further. Before spending anything on an adviser or dismissing this ancient science and art as a bunch of bunk, check out the following explanations.

Feng Shui is Based on Oganization and Tranquility

This is probably the most important principle that feng shui beginners should consider. Feng shui is not about a rigid placement of furniture or about thinking that a red front door will bring wealth to your home; its about ushering in peace, calm, order, harmony and balance to your life. For example, one of the first things that feng shui beginners are told to do is to de-clutter their home as much as possible.

Why is this important? Because clutter causes chaos and stress in a home. This is a scientifically proven fact. If your living environment is cluttered with all sorts of things you feel disappointment and guilt over unfinished projects and chores. You are also frustrated and annoyed when you can't find an important item amid the mess.

Some feng shui beginners might immediately dismiss this element but think about it. If your home is messy and cluttered, how does that make you feel? Do you feel positive about your home and good about yourself? Probably not.

Generate the Mood You Want Using Feng Shui

One of the most important factors of feng shui is the use of color. This is not because certain colors bring you more luck than others do, but because color affects moods. Bright vibrant colors are used to make a room have more energy. These are considered strong colors. Examples are reds, purples, and bright pinks and greens and yellows. These should not overwhelm a room; rather they should be used in conjunction with other colors.

There is scientific data available to back these claims up. Biologists understand the way in which we relate to colors around us. This can apply to a variety of situations. Brake lights, fire engines and stop signs are red to draw immediate attention to their importance. Taxi cabs are yellow to make them stand out amongst other cars.

So if youre a feng shui beginner, dont get overwhelmed with the concept, and dont dismiss it that easily either. You need not believe in the superstitious, hocus pocus bunk that some people have mistakenly attributed to feng shui, but you can appreciate the aspects of this art that are effective as well.

If you still need more proof, just try cleaning out your closets and repainting your bedroom, and see if those changes dont bring some positive energy to your life as well!
